Purpose of the Search Committee
Members were selected from across the church to represent the feelings and opinions of the body. But the team can’t work without your input. Thus we are providing photos and brief biographies of committee members to enable you to talk to them.
Leon Hampton
Became a Christian in 1963 at age 23. He has been a member of UCC since moving to Las Cruces in 1964. He has been married to Elaine for 40 years and they have two faithful grown children. His major ministry interests are evangelism and our campus ministry. Previously, he served as a deacon and an elder for UCC.
Beverly Robinson
Age 64, has three adult children, and six (soon to be seven) grandchildren. She grew up in the church and has seen God work dramatically in her own life as well as in the church. She is excited to see what He has in store for us in the future.
Ned Tutor
Is married to Phyllis and has two daughters, Tabitha (19) and Hannah (12). He grew up in South Africa as the son of missionaries and has been tightly connected to the Churches of Christ throughout his life. He owns and operates a local construction business and has lived in Las Cruces and worshiped at UCC for 21 years.
Sandy Peugh
Has been married 27 years to Dean. She is the mother of Josh (23) and Emilee (20). She has been a Christian for 37 years and a member of UCC for 27 years. Sandy received her Masters of Nursing degree at NMSU and is presently the school Nurse at LCHS.
Joel Crum
Is married to Susan. He has lived in Las Cruces for 6 years and gone to UCC for 4 of them. Before moving to Las Cruces he lived in the Midwest, growing up in Indiana and going to college in Michigan. He works at the Physical Science Laboratory of NMSU.
Irma Carrasco
Age 39, is married to Teddy and has two boys Xavier (10) and David (9). She works full time as an Occupational Therapist for the Gadsden Independent School District. She has lived in Las Cruces for nine years and has been a member of UCC for eight years. She is involved with the Spanish ministry.
Ken Hall
Has been married 58 years to Nancy. He returned to Las Cruces recently. He formerly served as an elder for 20 years in a multi-ethnic congregation as well as being a song leader, teacher, and bible class teacher for junior high to senior citizen.
Kara Sparks
Daughter of Wyatt and Jen Sparks, is a nursing student at NMSU. She is from Ruidoso, NM, and grew up attending Gateway Church of Christ. Her brothers and sisters are Kody, Kent, Kyle, and Kammi Sparks.
Randy Earwood
Is currently the Director of Human Resources for Las Cruces Public Schools. He has been married to Karen for 27 years and has three wonderful children, ages 18, 21, and 24. They also have a one month old grandson named Tristan. Both Karen and Randy were raised in the Church of Christ.
Stanna Porter
Is married to Alan, and they have three children, Jeremy (30), Ryan (25) and Chris (16), two precious daughters-in-law and four sweet grandchildren. She has worshiped at UCC 28 years and served in prayer, outreach and teaching/discipling based ministries. She is currently active in a city-wide ministry with the Las Cruces Prayer Network and works full-time for an engineering firm as the VP of Business Operations.
